5th Grade BandBeginning Band; Don’t Miss Out!
Hello fifth grade parents! My name is Victoria Hillabolt, and I am the new director of bands at Lynnville-Sully CSD. If you are receiving this letter, it means your children are entering into fifth grade this fall. There are many exciting parts of fifth grade; I am writing to inform you of one of the exciting opportunities made available to your child(s). Being a part of band is very rewarding for all students. Playing a musical instrument has been proven to increase the students multi-tasking, and performance in other school subjects. Band gives students a community of common interest and works on their collaborating and compromising skills. Band is not an opportunity that you want your children to miss out on, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that would give your child a passion for music that will last a lifetime. In this first two weeks of September, your children will get to come down to the band room, and test several different instruments. I will also demonstrate these instruments so they know what they sound like! Usually the students really love getting to try the instruments out. After they come try the instruments, I will make a recommendation on which instrument would be the best fit for them. I take into strong consideration what instrument the student is most excited about. Please consider giving your children the opportunity to try band (even if only for a year) and they will be head over heels with the progress they have made, the friends they have made, and will have an appreciation for music that they will never forget. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. Victoria Hillabolt, Director of Bands [email protected] |
